Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam are well known and regarded as one of the best when it comes to identifying and grooming talents to global stardom. As a matter of fact a lot of people believe they are top in the world in that regard.
Their model which involves intensive scouting of players from all over the world has seen them make more money from players sale than most teams in Europe. That model is now what most teams around the world is now emulating.
It was how they got Shedrach Ebite, a 16 year old striker who was signed last summer from fellow Dutch side Den Bosch and has wasted no time in making his mark at the club.
“The interest of Ajax came as a surprise. In March 2022 I was allowed to train for three days, a short internship period. This internship took a lot of getting used to for me. The first training was not normal, the pace was ten times higher. Act quickly and much smaller spaces than at FC Den Bosch”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.
Sheddy as he is called has caught the eyes not just with his skills, strength or goal scoring ability. His pace has been what has been pinpointed as his major assest, something which he said he inherited from his Nigerian mother who was an athlete. His father also from Nigeria was a sportsman.
“My parents were both born in Nigeria and came to the Netherlands at a young age. My mother did athletics and was a sprinter in Nigeria, hence my speed, I think.” His father was also a sportsman in their home country. “He played football in Nigeria and is really my football mentor. He used to always stand along the line and give me a lot of tips at home.”
