The former coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr says he is the one who should get the credit for the present players in the set up of the senior national team of Nigeria.

Rohr was sacked in December 2021 after five and half year as coach of the senior national team of Nigeria and recent reports indicate that he is set to be announced as the new coach of the senior national team of Benin Republic.

Despite several reports saying the deal for him to become the next coach of the Squirrels of Benin is done, the coach insist that they are still some areas that requires ironing out before the deal can be said to be official.

” We are talking and more talks will continue before it is agreed. I am eager to get back to work with my team and make history. You can say it’s hard to be away after the good five year I had with the senior national team of Nigeria”, he told OGN.

Speaking on the Nigerian team he said he still take out time to speak with his players as he now sees them as his family and hopefully he will meet with them soon. ” I speak with them when I have the time. We have a very good relationship and it’s so because I see them as my family”, he said.

” The present Super Eagles team if properly handled can be great because I built it to an extent that makes it easy for anyone to do the job correctly. I will forever wish them well but not when it’s against the team I am handling”, he rounded up saying.
