The senior national team of Nigeria had their first tactical session ahead of their second group game against Ivory Coast at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

In need of a win after their opening stalemate against Equatorial Guinea, the team returned back to training yesterday with emphasis on getting a win against the host, who were 2-0 winners over Guinea-Bissau in their first game.

Led by head coach Jose Peseiro, the team had a two hour session with more emphasis on shooting and goal scoring, the two major problem they faced in the first game of the tournament. They failed to take any of the chances that came their way in what was a dominant performance.

Training with the team for the first time, Kelechi Iheanacho showed why the coaches patiently waited for him to recover fully before teaming up with the rest of the team. He scored four goals to emerge as the highest among all who took part in the training.

Another player who was also at this best was Samuel Chukwueze, who was a substitute in the first game owing to the fact that he wasn’t quite fit. He showed he has returned to full fitness with the way he was gliding past his markers with ease for the entire duration they trained.

Training will be intensified today ahead of the game which will be played around 5pm Nigerian time.
