Impressive West Ham suffer another injury setback

Leicester City fans were left impressed by top-four rivals West Ham United as they put Wolverhampton Wanderers to the sword on Monday night.

The Hammers, who host the Foxes on Sunday, produced a stunning display of attacking football in the first half which saw them storm into a three-goal lead.

Wolves fought back to make it 3-2 but the Hammers held on to move up to fourth, four points behind Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Foxes fans took to social media to give their assessment of David Moyes’ side.

But it wasn’t all good news for the Hammers, who lost a key player to injury before the game and another one during it.

It was confirmed ahead of kick-off that England international Declan Rice will be out for between four and six weeks with a knee injury suffered on international duty.

The absence of the influential Rice didn’t affect the Hammers early on as they raced into an early 2-0 lead thanks to a stunning individual strike from Jesse Lingard, who was also involved in the second, scored Pablo Fornals.

Like Lingard, Michail Antonio tore Wolves apart in the first half, hitting the post with a thunderous effort early on.

However, Antonio then limped off injured on 33 minutes, making him a doubt to face the Foxes. Speaking after the game, Hammers boss David Moyes said it could be a hamstring issue.

Antonio’s replacement, Jarrod Bowen, wasted no time to make an impact, scoring just five minutes after coming off the bench.

A frenetic game continued with Wolves pulling a goal back through Leader Dendoncker before the break.

The home side scored again midway through the second half through Fabio Silva, but that was the end of the scoring.
