The National Chairman of the commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu made this known at a news conference in Abuja.

According to him, the Presidential and National Assembly elections will now hold on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Governorship and state houses of assembly elections will hold on March 11, 2023.

The announcement is coming 24 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari gave assent to the long-awaited Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2021.

The President last year withheld assent to an earlier version of the bill for reasons he expressed in his communication to the National Assembly.

He however signed the bill into an act yesterday after it was presented to him by his Senior Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters (Senate) Senator Babajide Omoworare.
