Southampton winger Nathan Tella who is in frame for a senior national team spot with Nigeria will be out of action for a while due to an injury according to coach of the team Ralph Hasenhuttl.
Tella is enjoying his breakthrough season at the club with as many as four first team appearances this season but he now faces a spell on the sidelines.
Base on Hasenhuttl’s statement, the injury doesn’t look like one that will keep him out for a long while provided he doesn’t suffer a setback.
His breakthrough has fired up talks of a call up to the senior national team of Nigeria with Tunde Adelakun chief scout of the coach of Nigeria Gernot Rohr confirming the 21 year old among the players he is tracking.
“In Southampton, I am still watching Nathan Tella, it’s great to see he’s now making starts in the Premier League”, Adelakun said last year.
“The main aim is to get the best players to play for Nigeria. It doesn’t matter whether he is based in Europe or Nigeria. We want the best players,” he concluded in an interview with the BBC in October 2020.
