A 33-year-old Islamic teacher, AbubakarAbdullahi, has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment with hard labour for sexually assaulting 35 pupils in his care.
According to Sahara Reporters, Police Prosecutor, ASP Daniel Ikwoche said the complainant, Murtala Abdullahi alleged that the accused lured 35 of his pupils, who are between the ages of 9 and 14 years, into his room and had anal intercourse with them on different occasions between March and July 2019.
The accused pleaded guilty and asked for leniency during trial.
In her judgement, Magistrate Hauwa Yusufalso ruled that he will have the option of a N2 million fine after serving the first four years of his sentence.
