Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has expressed his reservations over Alex Iwobi testing positive to coronavirus before the Super Eagles 1-0 win over Sierra Leone.

The Everton man was ruled out of the game after tests carried out by the health authorities in Benin Republic returned his case as positive among all the players tested prior to the game.

It led to his omission from the line up but Rohr believed some foul play must have happened and said plans to have another test is underway. This much he said to popular Nigerian journalist Colin Udoh ahead of tomorrow’s game against Lesotho.

However Iwobi has left the camp of the team as a precaution incase the results remain same but if otherwise then he will play some part in tomorrow’s dead rubber game in Lagos.

“Gernot Rohr has told me that although @Everton’s Alex Iwobi tested positive for COVID on arrival in Benin, he believes the result is “fake”.

”A 2nd test has been taken and result due soon. Rohr tells me he’s confident Iwobi will play on Tuesday”, Colin said on Twitter.
