The Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on the Elephants of Ivory Coast in a group game at the Africa Cup of Nations around 5pm Nigerian time tomorrow, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Ivory Coast need a win to secure a spot in the round of 16 following their opening day 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau, while Nigeria will be looking for their first win of the tournament after a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea in their opening game.
Ahead of the game, we spoke with former Nigeria international and Chelsea defender Celestine Babayaro on what he thinks will likely be the final outcome of the game between the two West African giants.
” They are the host and it’s only natural for them to come out and play. Meaning there will be spaces for the quick forwards of the Nigerian team to exploit unlike against Equatorial Guinea side who defended with a low block for most part of the game.
” It will be a very easy game for the Super Eagles, maybe their most easiest game I can tell you. The host will be under immense pressure to score early and if that doesn’t happen, they will no doubt become nervous. It is what will play out. Games against the host are usually very good for the other team”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com in an exclusive chat.
” Nigeria need the big players like Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon, Kelechi Iheanacho and Victor Osimhen to come to the party. Especially Osimhen he was quite wasteful in the first game. He should be more decisive against the host because they will give very little chance away”, he said .
