Arsenal players welcomed the club’s decision to sign Jorginho from Chelsea on transfer deadline-day.

The Athletic reports that the move to Arsenal has gone down ‘very well’ with Mikel Arteta’s team, who believe the Italy International can contribute to their Premier League title push.

Jorginho is now an Arsenal player, switching from west to North London in a £12m deal on deadline day.

The 31-year-old, who won the Champions League and Europa League with The Blues, signed a one and a half year deal at Arsenal with the option of a further year.

Jorginho became Arteta’s third January signing following Jakub Kiwior and Leandro Trossard to the Emirates

The players and staff are fully behind his signing and are ‘excited’ by his arrival.

According to the newspaper, they believe Jorginho will have an important role to play as they seek a first league title since 2004.

The Gunners believe that Jorginho’s technical ability and experience will be invaluable.
