Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has said that the Kano singer who was sentenced to death for blasphemy, Yahaya Shariff-Aminu, can appeal the sentence.

Speaking to journalists after a meeting with the President Muhammadu Buhari, Ganduje said that he can appeal the sentence up to the Supreme Court.
He also revealed that Buhari has been notified on the matter.
“He has already appealed. That process is going on and that process will continue up to the Supreme Court.
“For the time being, we are waiting for the judicial processes,” he said.
The governor, however, failed to state the position of the President on the matter.
Yahaya Shariff-Aminu was sentenced to death over a song which is said to elevate an imam above the prophet of Islam.
