Reigning Italian Serie A champions AC Milan have named 17 year old Nigerian midfielder Victor Eletu Ehuwa as the new captain of their U19 team ahead of the start of next season, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Eletu trained with the first team during their pre season camp and showed enough leadership qualities that made newly appointed coach of the U19 Ignacio Abate to name him as the new captain. He captained the team for the first time yesterday in a pre season game which they lost 0-3 to Inter Milan.

His rise at the club has taken a lot by surprise but not those who are familiar with the youth team. The Prince Kazeem Eletu Academy prospect is rated among the best teen midfielders not just in Italy but in Europe, as he also excelled in the UEFA Youth League last season.

Abate, a former Italy international and also a legend at AC Milan made the step up from the U16 to the Primavera. His decision to make Eletu captain is seen by many part of the steps towards convincing the talented sensation to pledge his future to the club.

” I think you are right to an extent. Making him captain of the U19 shows they value him and want him to stay. It’s a case of throwing every available thing on the table for him to commit his future to them”, his agent Allele Celestine told OwnGoalNigeria.com in an exclusive chat.

” There is an offer on the table for him to sign his first professional deal at the club. It includes improved salary, bonuses and now the captain armband. We are still talking about it”, he concluded.
