Man bags 2 years jail for stealing items worth N960,000

An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State on Monday sentenced a 47-year-old man, Ugochukwu Sunday, to two years imprisonment for breaking into a company to steal a water dispenser and other items worth N960,000.

The Magistrate, Mr O. O. Okiki, sentenced Sunday to prison without an option of a fine, after pleading guilty to stealing, damages and burglary.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp E. O. Adaraloye, told the court that the convict committed the offences on Oct. 17 at 5.30 a.m. at Ota.

He added that the convict maliciously damaged the ceiling while trying to break into the company.

He said the offences contravened Sections 390(9), 414 and 451 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun, 2006. (NAN)
