Man City Told To Exercise Right To Buy Back Iheanacho From Leicester City As Aguero’s Replacement

Manchester City have been told to ignite the option of a buy back inserted in the deal that took red hot Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho to Leicester City three years ago.

City are facing goal scoring problems this season and they announced that all time top scorer Sergio Kun Aguero will depart the team in the summer.

That announcement means they will be in the market for a striker and their former forward Emmanuel Adebayor believes a deal for Iheanacho to refer to the Etihad will be perfect.

Iheanacho who has scored 14 goals in all competitions this season with seven coming in his last five games has a £50 million buy back clause inserted in his deal when he left City in 2017.

Coach of Leicester City Brendan Rodgers voiced his concerns over the clause in January last year and it appears it could hurt them if they listen to the advice of Adebayor.

“ He is scoring and the attack of City isn’t scoring. He knows the club and the coach but left because of the presence of two forwards preferred by the coach. One is going so bringing him back won’t be bad he won’t be as expensive as the other names that have been mentioned”, Adebayor said.

City will however find in Leicester City a tough customer to negotiate as only recently they handed the Nigerian a new deal which will keep him at the club till 2024.
