Inter midfielder Joao Mario has revealed he ‘would like to play in La Liga’, as he seeks ‘new experiences’ after returning from loan at Lokomotiv Moscow.

After a six-month stint at West Ham in 2018, Joao Mario was loaned out to the Russian side ahead of 2019-20 season and seems set to move again this summer.

It has been a difficult time at San Siro and the Portugal international reveals he would be open for a move to Spain.

“I want to try new experiences. I would like to play in La Liga because I think it’s the League that suits me best,” he told AS. “I like the way Spanish teams play.

“The culture at Sporting, where I grew up, is very close to Spanish football. I think I would adapt quickly.

“I would love to play in Spain. There are great teams there, it’s very competitive. Looking at the competitions where I have not played, that’s the one that attracts me the most.”

But he will choose wisely, as he is looking to claim a place in the Portugal squad ahead of Euro 2020 next summer.

“The next goal is to find a project that helps me stay in the national team for the European Championship.

“I’m sure we will find it and that I will be able to play regularly and be a starter for Portugal. “

He admitted that his time with Inter was complicated.

“I arrived at the end of the summer, in a time of great change. Inter were about to sign with Frank de Boer.

“It was a difficult season because the Inter project was in difficulty. In any case, it remains the one where I did best and have my best memories.”
