Newly appointed coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro is still in the process of scouting players he plans to build his team around before the start of competitive games next year.
Peseiro will have as many as three international breaks where the team will play at least four friendly matches following the postponement of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations. Already their will play two games in November against Portugal and Costa Rica respectively.
Players who fell out of favour under the previous coaches of the team will be eyeing a return to the set up by performing well for their respective teams with the hope of catching the attention of the Portuguese coach.
One of such players is Josh Maja of French second division side Bordeaux, who has seven goals in eleven games this season, with his team well on track to return to the top division following their relegation due to financial Issues.
His first and only cap for Nigeria came in the 2-2 friendly game against Ukraine on the 10th of September with Gernot Rohr as the coach of the team, he didn’t get another call up after playing just a minute but he is hopeful that with Rohr no longer at the helm, his fortune could change.
” It’s a dream and if I keep scoring goals it will definitely happen. Another chance with the team and this time around staying as a part of the group will be my aim. It starts with scoring for Bordeaux and return to the French Ligue 1″, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.
