Lorenzo Insigne’ scored in his last European game with Napoli against Barcelona last night, but it was not enough to avoid boos and criticism from the Partenopei fans.
The Italy international will leave the Stadio Maradona at the end of the campaign, having already signed a four-year deal with Toronto FC. The 30-year-old played and scored against Barcelona last night, but Napoli fans booed him when he was subbed off by Luciano Spalletti.
Napoli lost 4-2 and 5-3 on aggregate, facing elimination from the competition. Calciomercato.com reports that fans were particularly frustrated when they saw Insigne miss a pass on a corner kick action, leading to Barcelona’s first goal after barely eight minutes in the first half.

Criticism have continued outside the stadium, with many Napoli fans unhappy with the captain’s performance and, perhaps, a little hurt by his decision to leave the club at the end of the season.
Napoli are still in the race to win the Serie A title this season, being just two points behind table leader Milan.
