Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro has decided to move Wilfred Ndidi to a more advanced role in the team following his excellent performance in that role for Leicester City, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Ndidi has scored three goals with an assist in eight games in all competitions this season in the English Championship. A return that is connected to his new role on the pitch, which is more advanced than ever.
New coach of Leicester City Enzo Maresca sees him as someone who can fill the role with his energy a key reason behind the decision. Peseiro appears to be having same thoughts especially after the 6-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe.
26 year old Ndidi played what was arguably his best game for the Super Eagles in over four years playing in a role higher than usual. Frank Onyeka of Brentford was the deepest midfielder in the set up for the heavy win.
” It’s a decision that we will make for the next games because we want to play players where they play at their clubs except in conditions where we want to play in a certain ways. Ndidi goes up now and we have to call another person to play deep. That’s what we like to see as we build up to our target of winning the AFCON”, the coach said in an interview on radio.
