Reports from France indicate that the top officials of the senior national of Nigeria have opened a line of communication with Rennes teen star of Nigerian descent Lesley Ugochukwu.
The talks is to convince him to pledge his international future to Nigeria after his rapid progress to the first team of Rennes where he is seen as the like for like replacement for hot in demand midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
At the age of 17 he has already made his debut in Ligue 1 playing in games against Dijon, PSG and Nimes. A sign of how well he is highly rated at the club following his elevation from the B team.
Nigeria are Keen on bolstering their options in midfield and coach of the team Gernot Rohr has identified Ugochukwu as one player he will like to have in the team.
Talks are still at the preliminary stage and even though it seems positive so far, the player’s immediate aim is on his club career where he is currently a part of the first team pre season training camp.
