Super Falcons seeking their 12th title in the African Women Championship will open shop against rivals Bayana Bayana of South Africa. The eleven time champions were drawn in Group C alongside Burundi and Botswana this evening in Rabat Morocco.
Hosts Morocco will face Burkina Faso in the opening match on July 2nd 2022 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat. The match will kick off at 21:00 GMT.
Moroccan Nawal El Moutawakel and Cameroonian Ajara Njoya participated in the ceremony and assisted CAF Competitions Director Samson Adamu with the draw. The three group draw involving 12 countries placed Nigeria in Group C. Group A has hosts Morocco Burkina Faso, Senegal and Uganda while Group B has Cameroon, Zambia ,Tunisia and Togo.
The group stage will see the top two teams from the group; qualify automatically for the quarter-finals, with the third-place team, seeking a place in the last 8 as one of the two best losers.

The 2022 edition will be the first time that 12 teams will be on parade as against eight in previous tournaments.
The competition, to hold in Morocco from July 2 to 23, 2022, will also double as the African qualifiers for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup billed for New Zealand and Australia respectively.
The top four teams at the AWCON will automatically qualify for the World Cup with two more teams, proceeding to the inter-confederation play-offs.
