The coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro says his team still remains favourite to lift the next Africa Cup of Nations in 2024, OwngoalNigeria.com reports.

Morocco made history at the recently concluded World Cup by becoming the first African team to reach the semi-final of the tournament. Their fine run during the course of the has made many to tip them as favorites for the next Africa Cup of Nations.

However the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Peseiro thinks otherwise insisting that his team still remain in contention for the next AFCON title regardless of how well Morocco has progressed over the years.

He said the Super Eagles has no fear and will beat any team including Morocco if they stand in their way towards lifting the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations which will take place in Ivory Coast.

” Morocco’s performance at the World Cup shows African football has come of age and many teams especially from the rest of the world will now show more respect to teams from the continent. On our part, the aim still remains to win the next Africa Cup of Nations ans we are ready to beat any team that comes our way. That’s the target and it remains the same”, the coach said.

Speaking further he said the next line of development for his team is for the team to properly understand how he wants them to play ahead of the return of competitive football, which is the qualifiers for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.

” We have too very good games in the qualifiers. We want to finish well and it starts with transmitting my ideas and tactics to the players. They will get it before the AFCON and we will be unstoppable”, he rounded up saying.
