Nigerian clubs get CAF’s $50,000 largesse

Nigerian clubs; Remo Stars, Enyimba, Bendel Insurance will get $50,000 each from CAF as participation fee for taking in continental competitions this season.

CAF set aside the money for all the clubs, who have already been eliminated from the competition this season.

Nigeria Premier Football League champions Enyimba and Remo Stars participated in the CAF Champions League, while Bendel Insurance took part in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Enyimba were eliminated in the first preliminary round 4-3 on aggregate by Al-Ahly Benghazi while Remo Stars crashed out 3-2 on penalties against Ghanian Champions Medeama.

Bendel Insurance battled hard to reach the second preliminary round but were eventually knocked out by former champions RS Berkane 3-2 on aggregate.

Only Rivers United made it to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
