No increment in electricity tariff – Kaduna Electric informs customers

A power distribution company, Kaduna Electric, says electricity tariff remains unchanged within its franchise areas.

The DisCo disclosed this on Thursday in a statement by its Head of Corporate Communication, Abdulazeez Abdullahi.

The company distributes power to northwest states, including Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi.

“The Management of Kaduna Electric wishes to announce to its customers in Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi that despite the new tariff order, there is no adjustment in tariff rates as the current rates being paid by customers subsist,” it stated.

The development comes amid a recent review of the Multi-Year Tariff Order, MYTO, by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC.

The regulator said electricity subsidy will gulp N1.6 trillion in 2024 alone, in line with the Federal Government’s electricity subsidy scheme.

However, the company noted that electricity tariff will increase after the Federal Government’s subsidy regime ends.
