Bayelsa United have appealed the sanction imposed on the club by the Interim Management Committee (IMC) over the alleged assault of an assistant referee.

The incident occurred during a matchday five encounter between Bayelsa United and Doma United at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.

The IMC ordered a deduction of three points and three goals from Bayelsa United after one of their supporters attacked the second assistant referee, Ojeleye Ebenezer after the game.

The management of the club claimed the assailant, Mr. Joseph Zidougha has never been a member of the club’s supporters club.

The club is willing to compensate for the physical abuse suffered by the official at the stadium.

Bayelsa United also prayed that the order closing the Samson Siasia Stadium to fans indefinitely be vacated or reviewed.
