The Nigeria Premier Football League board (NPFL) has imposed a fine of N4m on Abia Warriors following the poor conduct of some of their officials in the course of their home game against Rangers at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday.

The officials prevented Rangers from gaining access to the pitch before the match, thereby leading to violent scenes capable of bringing the game to disrepute.

Abia Warriors were charged for failing to provide adequate security at the stadium.

The club’s officials also harassed the media crew of the NPFL official broadcast partner.

The Umuahia club have been ordered to identify and produce the official involved in the act of misconduct for additional sanctions.

They have been warned of facing heavier sanctions if a similar act of misconduct reoccurs.

They have 48 hours to appeal the sanctions.
