NUT demands justice for slain Taraba teacher

The Taraba State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) has demanded the immediate arrest of those behind the gruesome murder of secondary school teacher Bassey Sardauna Nkuphee.

The union’s demand was contained in a statement signed by its chairman, Nathan Solomon.

According to Solomon, “NUT is saddened by the ugly development and calls on the state government to take proactive measures against the future occurrence of such barbaric acts.”

In what seemed like a contradiction to an earlier directive by the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, which suspended academic activities across the state, NUT urged its members to remain calm and continue with their academic activities “except GDSS Model, which is closed down to ensure the safety of staff and students.”
