The Ogun Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) is set to conduct a bye-election in Ilado, Ward 10, Odogbolu Local Government Area of the State.

The election, which is in line with the electoral law of Ogun State, would be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

The Chairman of OGSIEC, Mr Babatunde Osibodu, disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting with representatives of various political parties, security agencies, and other relevant stakeholders in Odogbolu on Friday.

Osibodu stated that the by-election became necessary following the death of the former Councillor of Ward 10, Olufemi Taiwo.

According to him, with the demise of the councillor and going by the constitution, the OGSIEC is expected to conduct a by-election to fill the position vacated by the deceased so as to complete the term.

Represented by Gbemi Onasanya, a Commissioner in OGSIEC, the Chairman revealed that the meeting marked the commencement of the by-election process, reiterating the Commission’s commitment towards ensuring free, fair, and credible election.
