Youths in Osun State under the aegis of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), have staged a peace walk against electoral violence, and vote-buying in Osogbo.

The youths with different placards reading: “Do not shed blood in the name of election, all Nigerians are precious”; “Your future is bright, do not sell it.” among others moved from the Freedom Park, walking across the state capital to sensitize people on their right to vote.

During the exercise, Chairman of Osun NYCN, Abdulazeez Ismail, while addressing journalists noted that youths are a major part of electioneering in Nigeria adding that they should understand that the peace of the society is important.

He said it was worrisome that people are no longer interested in voting making it important to sensitize them on their franchise.

“However, we also understand that election is fast coming and youths are going to play a large role when it comes to election, starting from voting to election observation and even those that are going to work as INEC Ad-hoc staff.
