Peace returns to warring Rivers communities after 46 years

Indigenes of Barakor and Wibiara communities in Rivers State have returned home after over forty-six years of communal crisis which sacked them from their homes,

thedabigal gathered that the people of Barakor and Wibiara communities have been engaged in a communal war for years leading to the destruction of properties and loss of lives.

The member representing Khana and Gokana Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Dumnamene Dekor who spoke on the return of indigenes, said both communities regret the huge losses caused by the age-long war.

Dekor commended the efforts of the stakeholders who ensured that peace and unity returned to the warring communities.

The lawmaker said, “I am still very excited that for the very first time in forty-six years the crisis that rocked bother communities has ended”.

“When we got there it was quite exciting to see all of them sit together and exchanging gifts, particularly the chiefs and I think we have seen the end of the crisis”.
