Persons missing as truck plunges in to Lagos river

An unknown number of persons are missing after a truck fell off the Berger bridge into the Epe river in Lagos State.

The incident happened on Friday night, since the early hours of today, different team of agency responders, Marine Rescue Unit, Nigeria Police and local divers are carrying out search and rescue operations as no deaths or casualties confirmed yet.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency confirmed the incident on Saturday, September 26 as Head, Public Affairs of LASEMA, Nosa Okunbor, said search and rescue operations are still ongoing.

He said,

“Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, it was discovered that a six-tyre truck loaded with sand fell into the river.

The Agency received information late last night of an accident involving a Volvo tipper that fell off the Berger bridge at Epe into the Epe river.”

He added that; “Upon arrival at the scene of incident, it was discovered that the six (6) Tyre Truck was loaded with Sand.

And the number of people in the truck was unknown. Since the early hours of the morning, a combined team of Agency responders, Marine Rescue Unit, Nigeria Police and Local Divers have been carrying out Search and Rescue No deaths or casualties confirmed yet”
