The police came to Aliyu’s rescue after a video showing his sad state went viral. Aliyu looked emaciated and dehydrated in the viral video.

Aliyu was made to go days without food and water and drank his urine. He was allegedly locked up by his parents on the suspicion that he abused some hard drugs.

A concerned neighbor alerted the police in Farawa and members of a non-governmental organization, Human Rights Network.

When the police and the human rights group came, the stepmother maintained that Ahmad was not at home, which forced the team to break down places in the house in search of him.

They were able to rescue him and arrested his father and step mum.

This incident comes days after a 10-year-old boy who was chained by his parents for 2 years for being epileptic.
