Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has made 11 changes to his starting XI for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Young Boys at Old Trafford.

The German said during Tuesday’s press conference that he would make wholesale changes for the European contest, as the Red Devils have already booked their spot in the last-16 stage of the competition as Group F winners.

Nemanja Matic will captain the team tonight, seemingly from the middle of the defence, while there are returns in the full-back areas for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw.

Jesse Lingard is expected to play in midfield alongside Donny van de Beek, with Juan Mata also operating in a central area, while Amad Diallo, Anthony Elanga and Mason Greenwood will all feature in forward areas.

Dean Henderson is also handed a start, with the England goalkeeper making just his second appearance of the season, having dropped back behind David de Gea in the pecking order at the club.

It is also a very young bench for the Red Devils, with Teden Mengi, Shola Shoretire and Charlie Savage all involved in the squad.

Manchester United XI: Henderson; Wan-Bissaka, Matic, Bailly, Shaw; Lingard, Van de Beek; Amad, Mata, Elanga; Greenwood
