The Rivers State House of Assembly has passed the Rivers State Child Right amendment bill 2020 into law.

The House also passed the renaming of produce house, water lines house, old Aba road, liberation stadium, Elelenwo road and Judges quarters bill 2021.

The bill were parts of the three executive bills sent to the House by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike last two weeks.

Before passing the Bills, there was a disagreement between some lawmakers over what should constitute the correct title of the bill.

The lawmaker representing Emohua state Constituency, Sam Ogeh argued that the title of the bill be reconstructed to reflect, “naming and renaming of produce house, water lines house, old Aba road, liberation stadium, Elelenwo road and Judges quarters bill 2021 but the leader of the House, Martins Amaehule countered the argument, stressing that the “drafters of the executive bill” were correct in the current title.

The Speaker of the House, Ikuyi Ibani before ruling on the bill noted that the bill will go a “long way in encouraging younger people to work and be recognized by the state”.
