The international future of Bayern Munich midfield maestro Jamal Musiala was at a point a tug of war between Nigeria, Germany and England, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
20 year old Musiala was born in Stuttgart, Germany to a British-Nigerian Yoruba father and German mother with Polish roots. Making him eligible for four national teams in Nigeria, England, Germany and Poland.
Musiala represented England and Germany at youth levels before deciding to pledge his senior international future to Germany, where he now has 25 caps. However he was very close to playing for the senior national team of Nigeria after a meeting with former coach Gernot Rohr.
His agent Bradley Hudson-Odoi while speaking on the decision of the player to turn his back on England at senior level said it was only Nigeria and Germany who sold the idea of instant senior international football to him.
” Musiala was 17 when he met with Rohr (former coach of Nigeria). He wasn’t even a first team player at Bayern Munich then so for the coach of a senior national team walks up to you with an offer of that level of football, then you will definitely be tempted. He felt charmed by the recognition and approach”, he revealed.
