Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr says he will call up 25 players for the Super Eagles AFCON 2022 Qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho respectively.
The games which will take place in March will be effectively round up the qualifiers for the tournament in Cameroon with Nigeria fairly poised to secure a spot at the tournament.
Nigeria need three points out of the two games to seal a spot in the Africa Cup of Nations and Rohr says he will be going with the best available players to get the job done.
A win against Benin Republic in Cotonou will be enough for Nigeria leaving the coach with the luxury of trying out new players for the game against Lesotho in Nigeria. Rohr has hinted that he is sure of two new players.
“ We are monitoring a pool of 35 players from which we will pick 25 players for the games in March. For now we are sure of two new players in the team because of injuries to some key players. It could be more”, the coach told Owngoalnigeria.com.
