The form of former Nigeria U17, U20 and U23 forward Taiwo Awoniyi has caught the attention of coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr.
Awoniyi has been sensational for Union Berlin where he is on loan from Liverpool with his goal yesterday in the 2-2 draw against Stuttgart increasing his goal count to three in his last five games.
Aside that he has also put in some impressive display against big teams like the Bayern Munich game last weekend where he gave the defence of the Bundesliga champions a lot to worry about.
The 23 year old could be set for a call up to the senior national team of Nigeria for their engagements next year if he maintains or improve on his current form.
“ Rohr likes him a lot and sees him as a better alternative to Victor Osimhen in attack. He has grown this season and now more than ever he could get his chance with the Super Eagles next year if he maintains his form”, a source close to the coach told this portal.
