France Ligue 1 side St. Etienne have opened discussions with FC Zurich over the signing of their Nigerian forward Tosin Aiyegun according to maxifoot.fr.
St. Etienne are looking at two strikers to boost their attack but Aiyegun is ahead of Arthur Cabral in their plans as they expect the 22 year old who plays for FC Basel to be a lot more expensive than the Nigerian.
Aiyegun was signed in the summer of 2019 from Latvian side Ventspils for a fee rumored to be around €500,000 on a deal which will run till 2024.
Despite the duration of his contract FC Zurich will no doubt be open to do business for him with the player also keen on a move to France in order to boost his chances of representing the senior national team of Nigeria.
Heavily scouted by coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr, Aiyegun has scored three goals in 12 games this season from a deep midfield role and 14th placed St. Etienne see him as someone who can add a different dimension to their attack.
A fee of around €2 million is rumored to be the asking price for FC Zurich for the 22 year old who has scored ten goals in thirty games since his move to the team in 2019.
