Six burnt to death in Ondo auto crash

Six people on Friday lost their lives in an auto crash that occurred in Ondo State.

The six people were burnt to death in an accident that happened at Ode Aye junction in Okitipupa Local Government Area of State.

The accident involved a coaster bus and a J5 bus laden with Ethanol which collided following wrong overtaking.

According to sources, the passengers in the coaster bus belonging to Akure North Local Government Area were on their way to Okitipupa to attend a social function of one of the Directors of the Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

Another source stated that the two vehicles collided after one of them wrongly overtook another car at a dangerous corner.

The source maintained that the accident occured close to Oluwa river along the route.

With the six people burnt beyond recognition, the other victims who sustained injuries were rushed to Pima hospital in Ore, Odigbo Local Government for treatment.

He said the residents of the community tried to put off the fire but the ethanol loaded in the J5 vehicle aided the fire that burnt the vehicles.

The source added that all attempts to call the operatives of the state road safety agency were not successful but said the remains of the victims had been deposited in a hospital in Ore.
