Young Arsenal goalkepper Arthur Okonkwo has revealed his major concern as he mulls over a switch of nationality from England to Nigeria.
In camp with the Arsenal team in Dubai as they gear up for the resumption of the English Premier League, the 20 year old is now fully established as the third choice at Arsenal after progressing from the U18 to the senior team.
At international level he is still eligible for Nigeria despite representing England ten times at various youth levels ranging from U16 to U18. Switching allegiance to Nigeria is an option he is exploring per sources close to him.
However his major concern is the amount of pressure players of the national team of Nigeria face when they represent the country as seen in the African Cup of Nations where they exited the tournament at the round of 16. Particularly the insults and death threats sent to Maduka Okoye and Alex Iwobi following defeat at the AFCON.
Okonkwo is said to be weary of similar backlash as the passionate nature of fans of the Super Eagles is toxic whenever they lose a game. His camp said that is his foremost concern but he will make up his mind soon.
