Stolen jewellery: Cross River governor promised to compensate me – Mayorkun

The Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu, has promised to compensate singer Mayorkun for his lost valuables in Calabar.

thedabigal reports that Mayorkun who was among the entertainers invited to perform at the 2023 Calabar Carnival, claimed to have lost jewellery worth millions of naira.

Expressing his displeasure in a post on his social media media page, the singer vowed not to perform in Calabar again.

Hours later, singer Iyanya announced the recovery of one of the stolen diamond chains belonging to Mayorkun.

However, in a follow up post on his official X, Mayorkun revealed that he recently met with governor Otu, who assured him of compensation for his lost valuables in Calabar.

He wrote; “Just met with the Governor of Cross River State, H.E Prince Bassey Otu. He assured me that Calabar people remain very hospitable and he has also stressed that I will be compensated for my valuables lost.

“Thank you sir. Still searching for my pendant. It’s so special to me for many reasons,” he added.
