Red hot Genk of Belgium forward Paul Onuachu says he is not worried over his spot in the senior national team of Nigeria after scoring four times against Sporting Charleroi last weekend in the league.

The haul takes his goal count to 12 in 13 games, he is almost on the same kind of goal scoring run that helped him emerge as top scorer two seasons ago. He didn’t have the best of last season no thanks to injuries and an unsettled future.

This season with his head no more fixated on a move away from Belgium he has been scoring goals for fun and he says returning to the senior national team of Nigeria is just a matter of time for him under new coach Jose Peseiro.

” I haven’t spoken with him yet but I know he knows about me and I will be back in the team soon. It’s about doing well at your club and by the grace of God I am doing well at the moment. I miss playing for Nigeria and I hope to be involved soon”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.

Onuachu last played for Nigeria in 2021 and since then the quartet of Terem Moffi, Sadiq Umar,Taiwo Awoniyi and Cyriel Dessers have been handed the role of back up striker to top striker Victor Osimhen. He is however not worried about their presence.

” It’s what makes the game a beautiful thing. When you have competition. It makes you value your chance when it comes and for the Super Eagles it has always been like that the past few years. It’s a healthy competition”, he rounded up saying.
