The first choice goalkeeper of the senior national team of Nigeria Maduka Okoye has been handed the award of player of the season at Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam.

Okoye ended his maiden campaign in the top flight on a high posting a total of ten sheets in 28 games and in the process conceded 35 goals. A remarkable stat for the goalkeeper who started the season as second choice.

His form cemented his spot as first choice of the senior national team of Nigeria and it also led to talks about a transfer for Dutch league giants Ajax Amsterdam. A move that didn’t see the light of the day at the end.

He will be hoping to better his last season performance when the Dutch League resumes especially as he is now seen as one of the senior players in the dressing room of the team.
