Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro has been accused of not calling up the best available players since he took over as coach of the team last year, OGN reports.
Peseiro is highly unlikely to stay in his role as coach of the team with his one year deal set to run out in June and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) not keen on extending the deal .
Reacting to the news around his possible departure, a player in the team who reached out to OGN expressed his sadness at the uncertainty over the future of the coach as many of the players have a whole lot of admiration for the Portuguese.
He however said the one thing the players complained about a lot is the reason behind the call up of some players, which he said are questionable and usually dominates discussion when the players gather to have a talk.
” He is loved by the players a lot. His departure won’t make a lot of the players happy but as professionals we have been trained to work with who is in charge for the good of the team”, he said.
” The only thing I know we discussed that is ill about the coach is the questionable call ups given to some players. As players we do talk about it in our spare time. Some players in the team don’t deserve to be there ahead of some”, he stated.
