The Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has reacted to the accident that happened in Lagos Island yesterday, which saw several Primary school students trapped under their school building after it collapsed.

According to Ambode, during his visit o the scene of the incident, the school and shops in the three-storey building, were operating illegally.

He said that the building is meant solely for residential purpose adding that many of the buildings in the area would be demolished due to their unfit nature.

“The building is not technically a school, it is a residential building that was actually accommodating an illegal school, so to speak, on the second floor,” he said.
