Some internet users have cried out following the disappearance of their neighbors who didn’t return home from where they went to purchase some ‘custom rice’.

Sharing on the microblogging platform X, they revealed that the women didn’t make it out alive, following the stampede that occurred at the venue.

Recall that the bags of rice that were recovered from some trailers conveying foodstuffs were been sold to Nigerians by customs officials for a small amount of money.

However, some of Lagos state residents who visited the venue with hopes of purchasing some didn’t make it back alive because a stampede occurred.

Their tweets read,

“A woman who gave birth just in December left her baby in Ikorodu to go and hustle for customs rice. She wanted to surprise her husband who was at work. She was among those who did not make it out alive.”

“Mrs Odulaja (aka Iya Ibeji) left her house in Surulere to go hustle for Customs Rice. She never made it back home alive to her husband and 5 children, including a set of twins.”

The news which is a sad story, got many Nigerians emotional as they all prayed for the family and loved ones of the deceased.
