Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has apologised to his players following the Gunners’ 2-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

Arteta said he was really sorry for his players, adding that the result of the match was a massive blow in their race for European competition next season.

Alexandre Lacazette’s goal was not enough as Jose Mourinho’s men defeated Arsenal, thanks to two goals from Son Heung-min and Toby Alderweireld.

“It’s a massive blow [in the race for Europe] because we know the results this weekend. We will fight in two different ways, in the league and FA Cup, to do everything we can.

“I’m disappointed and frustrated and really sorry for the boys.

“The personality they showed, nullifies them and makes them hit the ball long but with the two goals we gave away it’s very difficult,” Arteta told Football London.

Arsenal’s next match is against Liverpool on Wednesday.
