The proposed transfer of former Nigeria U20 forward Chukwubuikem Ikwuemessi to French Ligue 1 side Le Havre from Slovenian side NK Celje has broken down over a disagreement on wages, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Ikwuemessi emerged as one of the hottest property in Slovenia after a very successful season, where he impressed with his all round play to compliment his tally of nine goals and five assists.

A deal of €1.5m payable in four installments was agreed between both clubs plus a 15% sell on. The agreement came after he turned down a move to Latvian side Riga two weeks ago despite reaching full agreements including personal terms.

The 21 year old has a routine medical and was expected to arrive France today for presentation but a disagreement on personal term has brought about a collapse of the deal with the newly promoted Ligue 1 side. Le Havre are back in the top flight after a 14 years absence from the French top division.

A member of the Ladan Bosso led Nigeria U20 team of 2020 to the WAFU tournament, where they failed to make it to the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
