Transfer: Tonali becomes Italy’s most expensive player after joining Newcastle

Sandro Tonali has joined Newcastle from Serie A side, AC Milan in a club-record sale.

The 23-year-old’s move to St. James’ Park came at a fee of €70 million, making him the most expensive Italian player in history.

The Magpies confirmed the signing of the Italian in a statement released via their website on Monday.

The statement partly read, “Newcastle United are delighted to announce the signing of Italian international midfielder Sandro Tonali from AC Milan.”

The statement disclosed that the midfielder signed a five-year deal.
