A truck ran over students trying to cross in Lagos.
Several pupils have reportedly been killed by a hit-and-run truck driver along Ogunnusi Road, Grammar School bus stop, Lagos State.
According to reports, the pupils were going home after closing from school and wanted to cross the road when the truck ran over them.
The driver was said to have attempted to escape after the incident but was chased to the Ogba area where he was arrested.
“I have never witnessed such a terrible scene in my life. I saw about 15 pupils lying lifeless on the ground. The incident occurred around 2 pm,” a commercial motorcyclist told Punch.
The incident has reportedly resulted in a riot while policemen fired tear gas canisters to disperse the crowd.
