UCL: Double mistake – Thierry Henry singles out Chelsea player for criticism

Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, has singled out Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella for criticism over his performance during the Blues’ UEFA Champions League quarter-final second-leg tie against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Chelsea lost 2-0 against Real Madrid in the Champions League last-eight encounter at Stamford Bridge, following Rodrygo’s brace.

Frank Lampard’s side had lost against Los Blancos by the same scoreline in the first leg at Santiago Bernabeu last week.

Meaning Chelsea exited the competition with a 4-0 aggregate loss to Real Madrid.

Speaking about Cucurella’s display, Micah Richards, a former Manchester City defender Richards said (via HITC): “You see Cucurella, where is he going? He went all the way (from his left-back spot in his own half) to press the Real Madrid centre-half, and then Chalobah is left exposed here. Thierry, what should he be doing here?”

Responding, Henry agreed with his fellow CBS Sports pundit, saying that Cucurella made a double mistake.

The former France international said: “Well, delay. Don’t go. You are never winning that race. I don’t know why he is going there. That’s a double mistake. First, Cucurella, where are you going? At that particular moment, you have to delay. You can’t dive in there.”
